"Borders and Highways"
30 / Nov / 2018
This series is a continuation of the one that was nominated for the Art Nexus 2017 award.
And it has been produced in Tenerife within the residence that the Leyendecker Gallery does every summer.
It began with themes on violence in Peru where different parts of the capital and the interior were printed referring to political and social problems, gathering racks in forms of topographies or "layers of understanding" which he calls Archeologies.
The series of these maps continues with this show that as the title mentions makes reference to the borders and this conceptual and real space of the border and the territory.
For this exhibition, have been taken images of the Google Earth. The images come from places like Syria, Afghanistan, Gambia, Senegal, Greece, Sicily, Tripoli, London, Dusseldorf, Paris, Berlin, Los Angeles, Tijuana. These images have been worked, passed to high contrast and grain, black and white and printed on canvas. To these images they are thrown solvent or benzina so that some parts are diluted and others remain. Then they are mounted on another frame deciding which goes up and which down. From there proceed with the cuts to the first layer seeing what you want to show and what things to hide.
